Casa Cox, a mid-century home nestled in the hilly Florida Park neighborhood of Gainesville, is the personal home of Chinotto House’s own Chelsey Cox. As with all renovation projects Chinotto House takes on, the challenge is to preserve and respect the home’s time period with all its existing architecture details while still embracing bold, evocative design that can adapt to the homeowners specific rhythm of everyday life.

At Casa Cox, the original terrazzo floors remained while the early 2000’s addition of black metallic tile in the living spaces were replaced with more period appropriate slate mosaic. Original mahogany-veneered kitchen cabinets stayed, but a new island complete with custom stone tiered countertops were added. In the dining room, multiple closets were notched out and replaced with a custom, artisan-made wavy mantle, and when paired with the original mid century wood screen and decorative front doors, provides a perfect mix of old and new.
