Located in Florida Park, the home is a modest mid century modern build from 1950 with a kitchen that hadn't been updated cohesively over the years. When we were brought into the project, it was mid-demo and we were able to jump on board to add some of our special sauce to the mix for the homeowner, a young University of Florida professor, and her lovable pup.

Our prompt for the renovation was: “Not Your Grandma’s Mid Century Kitchen!” As with all our projects, we strive to honor architecture but put our contemporary twist on it. The goal was to maintain a general MCM aesthetic through use of new terrazzo flooring and flat front wood cabinetry, while including bold design strokes like the tiled peninsula post, full tile backsplash, curved floating shelves and a custom tambour hood.

The color scheme was pulled from a large format vintage landscape photograph left behind by the original owners. Crisp white, muted earth tones paired with a jolt of citron, colors that when translated to finishes, creates a truly special and unique combination

“They listened to my initial ideas and transformed those ideas into something really outstanding (that I never could've conceived of by myself). Every person who has seen my kitchen now is impressed with the transformation!”
