Located in the charming Duckpond Historic District of Gainesville, FL, this residential project has a storied past that dates back to 1928. Designing for a young couple, Chinotto House was tasked with honoring the Georgian style of architecture and a number of passed-down antiques while breathing new life into the tired interior by creating a design roadmap that reflected the couple’s vibrant sensibilities in perfect harmony. We painted the originally mismatched spaces white to unify and brighten, and accented with blacks and greens for modernity, and added a slatted board and batten detail in the dining room to play up original architectural details, but stretched it higher up the wall for a new twist.
The space combines traditional shaped furniture and antiques punctuated with ultra contemporary lighting by Lambert & Fils, In Common With, and Roll & Hill. The couple, both doctors, love to boat/fish, so the designers translated that interest into a custom art installation of ceramic chains that look like fishing nets and accented the home with medical-inspired artwork and the couple’s own vintage medical instruments displayed.
“Chinotto House really took our energy and personality and translated that into the feel of the house.”
Amelia, Homeowner
Two years + a baby after completing Phase 1 of the Stokes House project, the lovely homeowners called us back to renovate their space challenged primary bathroom with new striped tile in the shower, a custom 15 drawer vanity with thick Fantasy Brown counter slab, suspended mirrors, and exceptionally cool lighting choices.
